The Department of Philosophy at UMass Amherst is involved in several different community outreach efforts, including the following:
- Our Philosophy in Public Schools program brings UMass philosophy students, under the supervision of UMass faculty, into public schools in Western Massachusetts to do philosophy with students from grades K-12.
- Our summer philosophy program, Question Everything, brings high school students to UMass Amherst for a residential program that gives them a taste of both philosophy and college life.
- The Matthews Center for Philosophy and Children is devoted to community outreach, training, and research in the burgeoning field of philosophy and children. (We are currently in the process of applying for provisional status as a Center at UMass. Please stay tuned for more details.)
