We are pleased to announce “Minds of Our Own,” a conference celebrating the 25th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of A Mind of One’s Own: Feminist Essays on Reason and Objectivity, a groundbreaking collection of essays in analytic feminism, edited by Louise Antony and Charlotte Witt.
The conference will be held Nov. 9 – 11 at MIT. Keynote speakers are Elizabeth Barnes, Robin Dembroff, Esa Díaz Léon, Serena Parekh, Subrena Smith, and Vanessa Wills. Registration is free, but required. To register or to get more information, go to https://mindsofourown.weebly.com/
Publisher’s notes on the second edition: A book of tremendous influence when it first appeared, A Mind of One’s Own reminded readers that the tradition of Western philosophy—in particular, the ideals of reason and objectivity—has come down to us from white males, nearly all of whom are demonstrably sexist, even misogynist. What are the implications of this fact for contemporary feminists working within this tradition?
