I work mainly in metaphysics, occasionally thinking about related areas in philosophy of language, mind, and metaethics. Lately (as of fall 2010), I've been concerned with understanding what it is we're doing when we do philosophy. Since most interesting philosophical claims appear to be modal claims, I'm therefore concerned with the grounds of and our evidence for modal claims. Aside from modality, I'm interested in reduction, the metaphysics of properties and of material objects.
Outside of philosophy, I spend much of my time watching movies (old and new alike) and playing games (both card and board). My favorite card game is poker (esp. Omaha) and my favorite board game is probably Mr. Jack.
Feel free to email me with any questions (about philosophy or grad school or whatever).
