Yaozu Chen (he/him)

Biographical Statement

Yaozu graduated in May 2025 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. His initial work in the lab focused on the development of X-ray compatible microfluidic devices. More recently, he worked to understand the effects of polymer chemistry on the rheology of complex coacervates. In his spare time, Yaozu enjoys playing video games on Nintendo systems, reading, and skiing with friends in the winter. He is also a violinist in the UMass All-University Orchestra.

In summer 2023, Yaozu participatied in an internship at MacDermid.

For summer 2024, Yaozu will be participating in an internship at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory in Chicagoland.

After graduation, Yaozu will be joining the PhD program in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Northwestern University.
