Biographical Statement

Sarthak completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s (Dual Degree) in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. As an undergraduate he was keen about research and gained expertise on “Synthesis and Application Copper-based Nanowires” as a part of Bachelor’s and Master’s Thesis. Further, during his internship at the University of Alberta he focused on “Keratin based Biopolymers for Waste Water Treatment." Alongside the normal curriculum at IIT Kharagpur, Sarthak earned a Micro-specialization in “Micro Fluidics and Nano Patterning”. His present PhD work will be based on developing high-throughput microfluidic platforms for protein crystallization and drug discovery, and he is a member of the Chemistry-Biology Interface Training Program. Apart from research, Sarthak fancies photography and is an active sports person. He loves swimming and is a member of UMass Water Polo Club.

In 2023 Sarthak will be spending 6 months at EPFL in Switzerland working with Prof. Bart Deplancke's lab.
