Dr. Sarthak Saha (he/him)

2018-2024

PhD and Postdoctoral Researcher

Biographical Statement

Sarthak completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s (Dual Degree) in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. As an undergraduate he was keen about research and gained expertise on “Synthesis and Application Copper-based Nanowires” as a part of Bachelor’s and Master’s Thesis. Further, during his internship at the University of Alberta he focused on “Keratin based Biopolymers for Waste Water Treatment." Alongside the normal curriculum at IIT Kharagpur, Sarthak earned a Micro-specialization in “Micro Fluidics and Nano Patterning”. His present PhD work will be based on developing high-throughput microfluidic platforms for protein crystallization and drug discovery, and he is a member of the Chemistry-Biology Interface Training Program. Apart from research, Sarthak fancies photography and is an active sports person. He loves swimming and is a member of UMass Water Polo Club.

In 2023 Sarthak spent 6 months at EPFL in Switzerland working with Prof. Bart Deplancke's lab.

Dr. Sarthak Saha successfully defended his PhD dissertation on Advanced Microfluidics Platforms for Protein Crystallization and X-ray Crystallography on December 6th, 2023. Dr. Saha was the sixth PhD student to graduate from the Perry Lab! He stayed on as a postdoctoral researcher in the lab for 2024, and will be joining the lab of Dr. Avanish Mishra at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in 2025.
