Elsbeth Walker, 2018 PEP Fellow, research studying how iron transport works in plants reported in The Scientist. Her findings, she says, could help researchers genetically engineer corn and other staple grains to take in more iron and ultimately deliver it to people who lack sufficient iron in their diets.
