The faculty and students in the Psychology of Peace and Violence Concentration have collaborated with a number of academic and research centers, policy initiatives and non-profit organizations, as well as engaging in outreach efforts to disseminate research findings.

Policy Initiatives and Non-Govermental Organizations

La Benevolencija Rwanda reconciliation radio project. A non-goverment organization that does research in Rwanda and Burundi assessing Tutsis' and Hutus' attitudes toward each other, willingness to interact, and how to reduce of occurances of mass violence.

Joint Learning Initiative on Children and Ethnic Diversity, an international, interdisciplinary network of researchers, policymakers, and practitioners working to reduce racial and ethnic divisions through early childhood programs.

Quabbin Mediation, Orange, MassachusettsA community-based non-profit organization that mediates disputes teaches mediation, conflict resolution, and violence prevention skills.

Border Crossers, New York, New York. A non-profit organization that brings together children from segregated neighborhoods to explore issues of inequality, discrimination, and social justice.

Safe Schools Initiatives, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, designed to reduce bullying, hate crimes, and harassment in Massachusetts schools.

Harvard Civil Rights Project, American Psychological Association Legal Affairs office, and American Educational Research Association, in developing amicus curiae briefs and social science statements in cases on race-conscious school assignment heard by the US Supreme Court.

Alliance for Conflict Transformation (ACT), Alexandria, Virginia.  A non-profit organization dedicated to building peace through innovative research and practice.

Partners for Democratic Change (Argentina), an international organization aimed at building the capacity of local communities to advance civil society and manage conflict.

Outreach

The Psychology of Peace and Violence Concentration co-sponsors the Public Engagement Project with the Center for Public Policy and Administration, the Center for Research on Families, and the Sociology Department.
