John Sheehan - SGA President
Remarks at Campus Vigil
September 11, 2001
Id like to start by saying how much it helps to see you all here. In
situations such as these, its easy to feel handcuffed to help, either
because you cant find the right words, or you feel as if its not
your place to feel remorse when others may be worse off than you. But its
ok to feel that way, I think that you all know what Im trying to say
because
youre all here.
Never forget, in times such as these, that we have one another. Its as
simple as a hug, or an understanding nod. Its as simple as recognizing
that the person next to you could have lost a loved one. If nothing else, its
as simple as looking at the person next to you and simply feeling
acknowledging
that youre together in that.
I know of personal friends of mine that have already lost someone in todays
events. This isnt a time for grandstanding, and this isnt a time
for fist-pumping. This is the time to come together as a family and let anyone
affected know that you care.
For all who lost their lives today, God rest you and bless you.
For all those who lost someone, you have our love and prayers.
For all who are lost, youre not alone, weve found each other.
