Budget Advocacy

Email to UMass Students
March 6, 2002

Dear Students:

We're writing to ask you to contact your Massachusetts state legislators to fund the University's budget needs. Currently, Massachusetts is facing tough economic times. As a result, state legislators must make hard choices in funding next year's state budget. As members of this great University community, we know what a tremendous value this University brings to the state, and that education is the best investment the state can make for the future.

We encourage you to tell your story and show why UMass is worth the investment. We suggest that you visit the web site www.umass.edu/actnow for links to information on effective ways to speak about the University to legislators and key opinion leaders in the state. We also urge you to forward this email to your families and friends to encourage them to act now for UMass!

Thank you for your support.
