V. Components of the Multi-Year Plan
     B. Expenditures
          (1) Major Initiatives $7.0 M

There follows a list of areas for major investments, with an allocation from the total $7.0M. Major Budgetary Units will also be reallocating 1% of their budgets each year for the 5-year period of the Action Plan [See Section V(C)]. In addition we shall be seeking a special appropriation or fair share funding to build the modern Land Grant-AAU model [See Section V(D)].

The major initiatives, totaling $7.0M, are discussed in the following categories:

a) Organization of Colleges and Schools for the Knowledge Base of a Modern Land Grant-Research University - $1.0M
b) Teaching, Learning and Curricular Reform - $1.0M
c) Advising and Retention - $0.5M
d) Diversity and Multiculturalism - $0.5M
e) Faculty and Staff Roles and Rewards - $0.5M
f) Interdisciplinary Programs - $1.0M
g) Scholarships and Financial Aid - $1.0M
h) Creation of Community - $0.6M
I) Steps toward the Land Grant-AAU Model - $0.9M
