(10) Contingency Fund $ 1.4M

In any operating year, emergencies, opportunities and contingencies will arise. It is essential to have a minimum fund available to the Deputy Chancellor, Provost and to the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance to cover such needs. A sum of $1.4M is a minimum threshold. From time to time, allocations may be made on a recurring basis, but in general the fund should be reserved for one-time expenditures. To the extent it is used for a recurring purpose, the fund needs to be replenished to the original level the following year. Also, if additional funds are available in a given year, the contingency should be augmented.
