Outreach Council

The Faculty Senate Council on University Service, Public Service and Outreach was established in September 2000 to bring together faculty representatives to establish an agenda for outreach on the Amherst campus. The Council believes the University is at a critical juncture in our relationship to the Commonwealth and is working to improve our ability to both offer our expertise as a resource to constituents in the state and to demonstrate our presence as an institution of great value to Massachusetts citizens.

The Council bylaws define its membership as:

  • One tenure track faculty member from each of the schools and colleges;
  • The Chairpersons of the Academic Matters Council, Research Council, Council for Teaching, Learning and Instructional Technology and Research Library Council or their designees;
  • The Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development or designee, serving ex officio;
  • The Vice Chancellor for University Outreach, serving ex officio;
  • One representative designated by the Massachusetts Society of Professors;
  • The Director of Libraries or a designee, serving ex officio;
  • The President of the Graduate Student Senate or a designee, serving ex officio;
  • The President of the Student Government Association or a designee, serving ex officio;
  • The Student Trustee or a designee, serving ex officio;
