Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is pleased to announce the Summer 2009 Research Scholar Program. This year's program will run for 8 weeks, beginning June 1 and ending July 24, 2009.

Research Scholars will gain educational and professional experience within their departments under the supervision of a mentor a maximum of 30 hours per week for the duration of the 8 week program. Students who successfully complete the requirements of the program will be offered stipends of $1500 to facilitate their participation. All students who wish to apply for the Research Scholar Program must be current undergraduates and have completed a minimum of one year of undergraduate study (please see application for further eligibility details).
Attached are the descriptions for the Research Scholar positions available for summer 2009. Please read each position description and the accompanying information carefully. Students may apply for up to three positions, although it is only necessary to complete the application once in order to do so. Applications should be completed online and recommendation letters should be emailed to Margaret_A.Hadinger@lvh.com . Student applications and recommendation letters are due by February 6. Materials received after this date will not be considered.
Students selected for a Summer Research Scholar position will be required to:
- undergo criminal background clearance(s) ,
- submit proof of two current, negative TB skin tests and proof of vaccinations (health certification),
- submit proof of a current urine drug screen,
- attend the mandatory orientation,
- be available to meet with their mentor on a weekly basis,
- complete a two-page summary report, poster presentation, status reports, and evaluations of their position and research specifically, and of the Research Scholar program in general.
In addition, the hosting department may have additional and/or more specific requirements.
