Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Our program offers 10 weeks of intensive practical laboratory research experience mentored by primary and joint faculty members of the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. Awardees will attend selected seminar by guest speakers, weekly lectures on basic concepts in pharmacology presented by our faculty as well as laboratory meetings and journal clubs. Students are also expected to prepare a report detailing their project, written in collaboration with their faculty mentor. At the end of the fellowship, each student will provide an oral presentation of their work to the Department. Fellows that provide a substantial contribution to a promising project, will have an opportunity to compete for funds provided by the American Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASPET) to support their travel to the 2010 ASPET meeting to be held in April in San Diego, CA. Our research fellowship is a great opportunity for students to gain valuable research experience, particularly when research opportunities in their own college or university are limited.

Applications for the fellowship award is open to undergraduate students who have an interest and potential for a successful career in research. We are seeking motivated students who have finished their Sophomore or Junior year in college, or those who have recently graduated from college and are exploring research as a possible career choice. Minority students are especially encouraged to apply.
$3,500.00 STIPEND: Will be provided by the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics that can be used for room, board or travel allowance as the student chooses.
