Stream Watch Summer Internship

Internship Description
The main focus of the full-time summer internship is field training in stream ecology. The intern is trained to teach school-age and adult field classes, and conduct a major macroinvertebrate survey. The remainder of the intern's experience is flexible, with possible options including: volunteer recruitment and cultivation; developing creative educational activities for classroom teachers or Society staff to use in expanding water resource concepts; field research; researching and writing a newsletter article on an aquatic ecology topic or other water-related issue.

Responsibilities
Assist with Stream Watch workshops and exhibits. Participate in an on-going macroinvertebrate survey and conduct a macroinvertebrate field research project; write a final report describing the project, results, and conclusions. Research and write an article or develop an educational exhibit or activity.

Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of college, natural science background preferred; strong verbal and written communication skills required.

Hours and Stipend
Approximately eight hours daily for 11 weeks at Ashland Nature Center, Hockessin, Delaware. Some evening and weekend work required. Stipend $2,800.
