Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program is hosted by IDD in San Antonio Texas

CTRC's Institute for Drug Development conducts a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program during the summer months to provide research experience to undergraduate students.
SURF is designed to introduce qualified students to the challenges of cancer research in an actual laboratory setting. The program provides summer stipends for students from the San Antonio area. The program is competitive, and students are selected based on their academic achievements and other factors relevant to their aptitude for conducting research. College students pursuing an undergraduate degree and high school students 16 years or older with a strong interest in science may apply to the program. The application receipt deadline is April 20, 2007. The SURF program will run from June 4 through August 10, 2007.
Undergraduate students will work closely with a research scientist or clinician for 10 weeks during the summer of 2007. A project will be assigned to each student in collaboration with the student's mentor in an area of mutual research interest. The student will be expected to complete the project within the 10-week time frame, and give a formal presentation of the results during the Annual SURF Research Forum held every August.
