Auditions are open for all UMass Amherst, Five College and high school students and members of the community. They happen in the beginning of each semester, during the first week of classes.

For the woodwind, brass and percussion players, auditions normally happen together with the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band auditions. Audition pieces are available at the end of the semester in the Music Office, with Helen Boyden (413-545 2227, hboyden@music.umass.edu ). Sight reading may also be requested. Audition sign-up sheets will be posted outside the Wind Ensemble Director's office (room 257, Fine Arts Center) before the beginning of the semester.

For the string players, when not specified, two contrasting pieces are required (please, bring the piano accompaniment sheet music in case a pianist is available). Scales and sight reading may also be requested. Audition sign-up sheets will be posted outside Prof. Marcelletti's office (room 263A Fine Arts Center ) before the beginning of the semester. Please check with Prof. Marcelletti to see if there are any required pieces for the audition.
