How do I cancel my room assignment?
In all instances, you should contact the Housing Assignment Office (HAO) to confirm your eligibility and communicate your intention to cancel your assignment. You may do this by visiting the Housing Assignment Office at 235 Whitmore or calling (413) 545-2100.
New and transfer students that sign the Residence Hall Contract are subject to the cancellation fee schedule as it is listed in the Assignment Cancellation section of the HAO web site.
If you are an upper-division continuing resident (Junior or Senior with more 57 or more credits) wishing to move off campus, there is no fee if you notify the HAO prior to announced cancellation deadline. However, if you notify the HAO after the published deadline, you will be assessed a fee. Consult the Assignment Cancellation section of the HAO web site for detailed information regarding the dates and fees applied to the cancellation process. If you cancel after you move in to your assigned room, you will receive a prorated refund, minus the cancellation fee. There is no refund after the fifth week of the semester.
