Chancellor's Area/University Advancement CDSJ Team

The Chancellor's Area CDSJ Team was formed in December 2000 and the University Advancement CDSJ Team was formed in January 2001. Due to budget cuts and multiple reorganizations, these two teams merged in February 2003. Since these two teams represent the smallest of the five executive areas on the campus, this merger was particularly helpful in making statistical comparisons of assessment data with other executive areas.

Currently, the Chancellor's Area/University (CA/UA) CDSJ Team represents four organizational units in the Chancellor's Area -- Athletics, Office of Information Technologies (OIT), Public Affairs and a group of smaller offices and a central staff group -- and two units in University Advancement -- Development and Alumni Affairs.

CDSJ Assessments were designed and then conducted in the spring of 2002. Data sources included an employee climate survey with open ended responses, demographic information, focus groups, and analyses of practices, policies, documents, websites, etc. Budget cuts and reorganizations delayed the analysis of survey data so assessment formation for all six organizational units was not completed until the Fall of 2003.

Due to the unique structure of CA/UA, the Team decided to first develop assessment reports for each of these six organizational units and then from those analyses build a larger assessment report for both CA and UA. In addition, the leadership of both CA and UA requested that the Team develop proposed change goals and specific change plans for each goal to be disseminated with the assessment results.

During 2004, the Team began dissemination of assessment results to the six organizational units, some of which required multi-tiered presentations because of their size. Each presentation of assessment results highlighted the Strengths and Areas of Improvement for each unit, along with proposed change goals and specific change plans. Each presentation also resulted in discussion and modification of change goals and change plans. When the dissemination phase is complete, the Team will produce a final assessment report with specific change plans for each organizational unit, likely in January 2005.
