Creating a more inclusive and equitable
The Community, Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) Initiative is a campus-wide effort to make UMass Amherst a more inclusive and equitable teaching, learning, working and living community.
The Initiative is driven by periodic assessments conducted by teams of faculty, staff and students in each of the five administrative divisions of the campus.
These CDSJ assessments are based in large part on surveys given to faculty, staff and students regarding the campus social climate. The assessments are used to identify strengths and areas of needed improvement and are the basis of specific change plans developed and implemented by the faculty, staff, and students in each administrative area.
