Pioneer Valley Oil Cooperative

What is the Oil Co-op?

The Pioneer Valley Oil Cooperative (PVOC) offers quality oil, fair pricing, and excellent, reliable service to residents in several western Massachusetts communities.

How does it work?

PVOC is a program offered by the Center for EcoTechnology (CET) and the UMass Office of Family Resources (OFR).

The CET Co-op provides a fixed mark-up over the dealerís wholesale cost. This has kept our membersí prices lower than the typical consumer. Co-op members always pay at least $0.05 per gallon less than the dealerís regular customers. Annual membership renewal is required as these prices last until July 31st each year. Donít wait until you feel the cold, join or renew every August.

Co-op benefits

CETís Heating Oil Co-op offers reliability, full-service and protection from market-driven price increases. In the coldest months, Co-op members usually pay the lowest price for comparable oil and service in the area. Remember, the Co-opís mark-up stays the same all year, while independent dealers are free to adjust their margins upward at will.

By becoming a member of the Heating Oil Co-op, you can also take advantage of the following CET services:

  1. 10% discount on CET weatherization materials & energy efficient lighting

  2. Assistance scheduling a no-cost Home Energy Assessment with up to $2,000 toward making your home more energy efficient.

  3. Up-to-date information on energy efficiency, renewable energy, recycling, household hazardous waste, and more.

Some of CET Co-op partners offer biofuel, a cleaner burning fuel that is better for the environment and public health. Biofuel is a blend of 5% refined soy bean oil and 95% low-sulfur heating oil. Unlike regular heating oil, biofuel comes from U.S. grown renewable sources and produces fewer emissions. Biofuel helps to keep our energy dollars at home, is better for your health, your heating system and the environment.
