Pioneer Valley Oil Cooperative
What is the Oil Co-op?
The Pioneer Valley Oil Cooperative (PVOC) is an oil-buying cooperative that permits individuals, households, and businesses to purchase home heating oil at a reduced cost.
If you heat your house, apartment, or small business with oil, the PVOC can help you save on heating costs this winter! The PVOC has made arrangements with oil dealers in Hampshire, Hampden, and parts of Franklin counties to supply heating oil to our members at a special price below the prevailing retail price.
How does it work?
PVOC is a program offered by the Center for Ecological Technology (CET) and the UMass Office of Family Resources (OFR). PVOC does not sell oil or service. The Co-op contracts with reliable dealers willing to sell oil and service at reasonable prices to our members. The CET and OFR will try to mediate if problems arise, but all obligations are between our members and the dealers.
PVOC uses the combined purchasing power of its members to bid down the retail price of fuel oil -- an example of organized consumer power in action.
How much does it cost and who can participate?
Participation in the Oil Co-Op is open to any household, small business, or agency in our supporting communities. Annual fees are $10.00 per household.
