This survey was designed to replace and improve upon the prohibitively lengthy CIRP Freshman Survey (see below). The paper, scannable survey was administered during summer New Student Orientation (NSO) to the vast majority of incoming first year students.  (International first years were invited to complete an online version.) The survey includes questions about students’ pre-college activities, educational aspirations, reasons for deciding to attend UMass Amherst, mental health, personal values, anticipated need for support (e.g. life skills, wellness), and the extent to which they are looking forward to specific opportunities at the University.
