In addition to the building there are giving Opportunities to UMass Amherst and the School of Nursing

For over 50 years the University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Nursing has remained a leader in nursing education, research and community service. Our leadership standing depends in large part on private support. Alumni are among the most loyal of supporters, and friends, foundations and corporations are also important funding sources.

The University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Nursing has a unique opportunity to make important contributions to the nursing profession and to our communities as a growing nursing shortage impacts all of our lives. The negative effects of this shortage are already being felt. Medical centers and community hospitals are postponing surgeries, closing beds, and diverting ambulances - ultimately affecting the safety and quality of care of all patients. A meaningful response to these issues requires unparalleled investment in the education of skilled nursing professionals capable of mastering the complexities, the greater responsibilities, and the technological innovations within the health care system.

The School is committed to shaping solutions for these workforce challenges. A response to these issues requires unparalleled investment. While there is no easy cure for the workforce challenges facing the health care industry, results can only be accomplished with private financial support. For the School to build on its leadership and strength, it is essential to increase student scholarships, fellowships and grants, fund endowed chairs, faculty positions and innovative research, as well as enhance, through nursing informatics, cutting-edge technology and model classrooms, the clinical skills of our students. Increased support will enable the School to develop new models for patient-centered care and discover new knowledge within the discipline of nursing, and to ultimately ensure the growing of a new generation of the best and the brightest nursing students and faculty. Gifts to the School are tax deductible, per the current and applicable tax laws. Donors receive recognition from both the School and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. For more information about the School of Nursing, please contact the Development Office at (413) 545-1766.
