MS/MPH Dual Degree Program

The MS/MPH Dual Degree Program:
• accommodates working professionals and parents,
• offers a full-time or part-time program of study,
• offers all courses online or through distance learning options
• offers flexible options for practicums
• provides links with essential support resources.

The program includes courses in bio-statistics, epidemiology, environmental health, public health education, public health practice, nursing theory, nursing research, public health nursing with special populations, ethical issues, and leadership. Several courses are team-taught by nursing and public health faculty members. Each student will gain experiential learning through several clincal internships to be arranged in the student's area.

The MS/MPH dual degree program is designed to develop the knowledge and skills required for public health nursing leadership. All students are paired with Public Health Nursing leaders who serve as national mentors, in addition to the program faculty. Mentors are chosen from national leaders in the field and serve as resource exemplars for leadership strategy,practical perspectives, and career counseling. The national mentorship program is unique for UMASS students among existing MS/MPH programs in the country.This program is 60-credits (30credits in nursing and 30 credits in public health). Master of Science Nursing Application (PDF)

  1. Application deadlines are February 1st for the Fall semester and October 1st for the Spring. To apply, first complete the UMass Amherst Graduate School Application. The graduate school will forward your application to the School of Nursing along with your transcripts, letters of reference, and GRE scores (you do not have to send double).
