Dr. Ginny Chandler receives UMass Community Salute

College of Nursing Associate Professor Dr. Genevieve Chandler was honored with the UMass Community Salute, presented by the Massachusetts Lottery, on February 14th, 2018.

Dr. Chandler founded the Changing Minds, Changing Lives program in 2015, and has expanded the program with funding from the NCAA to bring it to student-athletes. The premise of the course, taught to incoming first-year football players, is that resiliency can and should be taught, developed, and built. This program has helped over forty student-athletes at UMass Amherst overcome challenges and advance their development both on the field and in the classroom. Dr. Chandler recently represented UMass Amherst with Jim Helling, presenting Changing Minds, Changing Lives at the 2018 NCAA convention. The presentation is now posted here and is being implemented by other universities and colleges.

Dr. Chandler was supported by her research assistants and participants from the Changing Minds, Changing Lives course at the award presentation.
