The University of Massachusetts Amherst

Q: I've never taken an online course before. What type of training and support will be available?

A:  New online students are offered a free, optional course designed to help new students become familiar with the online learning environment and the "learning management system", Blackboard Learn. In addition, the course offers participants tips regarding time management, course communication, technical support, and other resources that are available to online students at the University. The course can be completed over several days or in one extended sitting! Students are notified about the course prior to the start of their first online class.

In addition, there is 24/7 free technical support, ongoing communication from your instructor, and regular updates from College of Nursing staff and advisors.

Q:  How long will it take to complete the program?

A:  The program can generally be completed in 1 year (full-time) or 2 years (part-time). Your advisor will help you create a plan of study that works for you.

Q: Do out-of-state students pay a higher tuition than in-state students?

A: No, course costs are the same for in-state and out-of-state students!

Q: Do I ever need to come to the UMass Amherst campus?

A: No; all classes are offered completely online. However, we would enjoy seeing you at the Commencement.
