Each year the College of Natural Resources and the Environment recognizes faculty and staff members who have made important contributions to the mission of the College. We are pleased to announce the 2006 recipients. |

Advising — Sheila Mammen, Resource Economics
Sheila actively recruits students, promoting the department to potential majors and showing them how rewarding the discipline of Resource Economics can be. She recognizes the depth of talent undergraduate students have and encourages them to utilize it.

Research — John Stranlund, Resource Economics
John is considered a world expert in environmental regulation. His recent research has focused on the design of enforcement strategies for incentive-based environmental policies. John has published fifteen refereed journal articles and has won seven grants. |

Support Staff — Sue Denis, Academic Programs
Sue manages the day to day details of the Academic Programs office, helping the college's 1800 undergrads find the resources they need. She is a team player, always among the first to volunteer for events. Sue conveys a positive image of the college to all of its constituents. |

Support Staff — Maryanne Wells, Microbiology
Maryanne handles her responsibilities as business manager with grace and professionalism. She achieves project results while maintaining a flexible style that engages her co-workers. She has created a motivated and supportive office culture that benefits all. |

Teaching — Kathleen Arcaro, Veterinary and Animal Sciences
Kathleen is skilled at explaining pertinent research in an understandable, yet not patronizing way. She excites and inspires students who will one day contribute to environmental toxicology. 'Her enthusiasm and encouragement made me want to excel,' said one student. |
