Kalidas Shetty advised the U.S. State Dept. on food policy

Kalidas Shetty, Associate Professor of Food Science, was named one of five scholars to serve as a Jefferson Science Fellow, advising the U.S. State Department on scientific issues as related to international diplomacy.

The announcement was made by Secretary of State Colin Powell. “I had the privilege of attending the awards ceremony and was overwhelmed with pride for Dr. Shetty,” said Provost Charlena Seymour. Department head Ferg Clydesdale puts the magnitude of the award in perspective. “This is a great honor for Dr. Shetty, but also for the university. He’ll be a wonderful ambassador for us. Our voice will be heard and will have an impact on important policy decisions. It’ll be a challenging and exciting year.”
