Kalidas Shetty advised the U.S. State Dept. on food policy
Kalidas Shetty, Associate
Professor of Food Science,
was named one of five
scholars to serve as a
Jefferson Science Fellow,
advising the U.S. State
Department on scientific
issues as related to
international diplomacy.
The announcement was
made by Secretary of State
Colin Powell. “I had the
privilege of attending the
awards ceremony and was
overwhelmed with pride
for Dr. Shetty,” said
Provost Charlena Seymour.
Department head Ferg
Clydesdale puts the
magnitude of the award
in perspective. “This is a
great honor for Dr. Shetty,
but also for the university.
He’ll be a wonderful
ambassador for us. Our
voice will be heard and
will have an impact on
important policy decisions.
It’ll be a challenging and
exciting year.”
