Prospective Students
Study something that matters.
With people who know what it means to make a difference.
In a place that can show you, hands-on, how to put those abstract classroom concepts to use.
NRE has twelve majors with over thirty concentrations that prepare students for job titles and salaries they're proud of, in fields that make a difference. NRE students and faculty take on all kinds of environmental dilemmas. They look at how we can:
- Grow food without pesticides
- Build homes without stripping the planet of its forests
- Write policies that create the best incentives for companies to conserve energy
- Protect endangered species and their habitats
- Test for environmental toxins and find new ways of cleaning them up
- Plan communities that are less reliant on cars
- Address animal diseases and the risk of transmission to humans
- Harvest the natural energy production of micro-organisms as a renewable energy source
- Identify wildlife corridors and ensure migration pathways are kept intact
- Engineer food products that contribute to human health and wellness
- Manage the health of woodlands held by multiple landowners
- Design urban parks that alleviate serious groundwater pollution
Whatever environmental challenge you want to tackle, and whatever means you want to use to tackle it with, we can get you there. We can teach you about it in the classroom, we can show you how to do it in the lab, and we can inspire you to pursue it further by seeing how we're pursuing it ourselves.
