Barbara Osborne receives an outstanding accomplishment award at the UMass Amherst Faculty Convocation.

Barbara Osborne has been chosen as one of nine professors honored this year with an Award for Outstanding Accomplishments in Research and Creative Activity.

The awards are presented by Chancellor John Lombardi and Provost Charlena Seymour at Faculty Convocation. This is the second year the awards have been presented. Last year two NRE faculty members, Derek Lovley and Kalidas Shetty, received the award.

Her research contributed significantly to the formation of a start-up company that studied the use of human antibodies for transplant purposes. Her work has been published in influential, peer-reviewed journals such as Nature, The Journal of Immunology and Blood and Immunity. In addition, Osborne is the co-author of the field’s best-selling text, Immunology.

Last year Barbara received the NRE Dean's award for excellence.
