2006 NRE Outstanding Achievement Award nominations are now being accepted. Nominating letters due April 3rd.

COLLEGE OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS for TEACHING, RESEARCH, OUTREACH, ACADEMIC ADVISING, & SUPPORT STAFF

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the College of Natural Resources and the Environment Outstanding Achievement Awards is to recognize excellence and honor our faculty and staff members who have made important contributions to the mission of the College.


NATURE OF THE AWARD:

Awards in each category will be announced at the NRE Graduation Ceremony and presented during the fall semester at the NRE General Faculty meeting. Honorees will receive a commemorative plaque and a $2000 honorarium.

Honorees must have been members of the University community for a minimum of three years to be considered eligible. Previous winners in any category shall be ineligible for that particular category.

CRITERIA:








Teaching:

- Subject Mastery and Scholarship
- Effectiveness and Creativity
- Impact on Students
- Contribution to Teaching Mission


Research:

- Quality of publications in area of expertise
- Quality of research
- Success of external funding
- Potential impacts of the research


Outreach:

Outreach must be scholarship
based. It is the teaching, research and service performed for external constituencies and must have a recognized impact on targeted
audiences.

Academic Advising:
- Mastery of Advising Process
- Availability to Students
- Effectiveness and Creativity
- Impact on Students
- Contributions to the Advising Mission

NRE Support Staff :

recognizes and honors professional or classified employees who have demonstrated exemplary and outstanding service to the College for contributions beyond the call of their job description, and/or significant improvements in productivity and/or operational savings. Each nominee must have a current employee evaluation or PMP on file in the office of Administrative Services.






SELECTION PROCESS:

Nominations will consist of a letter describing how the candidate meets the selection criteria and the impact of their activities. Nominating letters may be submitted by any member of the university community. The Associate Dean’s office will solicit additional information from the department of each nominated candidate.


DEADLINES:

Nominating letters are due in the NRE Associate Dean’s Office no later than April 3, 2006.

Remaining materials must be received by NRE Associate Dean’s office by COB May 5, 2006.
