Acknowledgement

On behalf of the college’s committee on Community, Diversity, and Social Justice, I would like to thank Dean Cleve Willis for his wisdom and foresight in naming this committee at a relatively early time in response to the action plan by the Academic Affairs executive committee on disseminating the discussion and analysis of diversity and justice on the college and school level. His vision on forming a diverse and inclusive committee which consisted of faculty, professional staff, classified staff, graduate and undergraduate students covering all the departments and units within the college, and his guidance and support sent the first signal that this college is committed to take the issues of diversity and fairness seriously and determined to translate the general interests in these concepts into an action plan that would better define and realize the college’s mission.

I would also like to thank the very capable and conscientious committee members, who went to work from the very first meeting and took the task to their heart throughout the past two semesters. I am proud to say that this hardworking committee was able to go through the survey and finalize its report at a time when some other academic units across the campus was still scheduling their initial meeting. Many thanks are also due to the Academic Affairs Executive Committee and its co-chairs Anne Herrington and Matt Ouellett for their gift of organization and continuous support.
