If your student is entering UMass in the spring, you should attend Winter Orientation. Parents and family of new students have a day long program that runs concurrently with the student orientation session.
The one day orientation includes information sessions on a range of topics. You’ll meet faculty, staff, and administrators, and learn about academic expectations, campus and residential life, student support services, financial aid and opportunities for student involvement. The cost of the orientation is $50 per person. Fees may be paid by credit card or check and are non-refundable.
For some families, attending one of our Parents and Family Orientations may create a financial hardship. A limited amount of funding is available to assist families if this fee does pose a difficulty. If you wish to apply for a fee waiver for up to two attendees, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org before you register for the program. If approved, you will still be responsible for your own overnight accommodations. A list of places to stay is available on the Office of Parent Services website. You should include your student’s name, ID#, and your name. Your student must have a FAFSA on file in order to be eligible for consideration.
