Parents and Family Orientation Fees

Although Parents and Family Orientation is not required, we strongly encourage family members who are supporting students in their college experience to attend, especially if you are sending your first student to college or your first student to UMass Amherst. All participants, including any siblings or extended family members who will join you, must be registered and pay the registration fee in order to attend the program.

For some families, attending one of our Parents and Family Orientations may create a financial hardship. Funding may be available, based on your student’s financial aid eligibility, to assist you if this fee does pose a difficulty. If you wish to apply for a fee waiver for up to two attendees, please email us at newstudent@umass.edu before you register for the program.

Registration fees for parents and family members vary based on the type of program for which you register:

Freshmen & Stockbridge Families Fees

o   Summer orientation sessions are two days long and the registration fee is $100 per person.  This fee includes 5 meals, parking, and materials*.

o   Winter orientation sessions are one day programs and the registration fee is $50 per person. This fee includes 2 meals, parking, and materials*.

Registration fees for Parents and Family Orientation may be paid by credit card, check, or money order and are non-refundable.

Transfer Families Fees

o   Summer orientation sessions are one day programs and the registration fee is $50 per person. This fee includes 2 meals, parking, and materials*.

o   Winter orientation sessions are one day programs and the registration fee is $50 per person. This fee includes 2 meals, parking, and materials*.

Registration fees for Parents and Family Orientation are paid by credit card ONLY and are non-refundable.
