Friday, August 29

  • First-Year Move-in Day
  • 1:30pm & 3pm Commonwealth Honors College (CHC) Advising Panels, CHC Events Room 160 You will hear advising tips, find out how to track your requirements, and have a chance to ask questions of our advising panel.
  • 6:30-7:30pm Dinner at the Dining Commons (DCs)
  • 7-9pm Floor Meetings & First Night Activities (see your RA for details)

Saturday, August 30

  • 8am-1pm Transfer Move-In Day
  • 10am RAP Pre-Brunch Meet and Greet Students living in RAPs meet with your RA for a short get-together and picture. Then go to brunch!
  • 10am-1pm Brunch at the DCs
  • 11am Busses Depart for Gillette Stadium, Hagis Mall Bring your ticket and your UCard and get ready to cheer on your Minutemen!
  • 11am Permaculture Garden, Franklin DC Learn about gardening techniques that are more than just sustainable, get your hands dirty, and meet new, like minded friends! Participants are welcome to work in the garden for as long or short as they like.
  • 11am-12noon What is this Resident Assistant Gig All About, Berkshire Dining Hall, Berkshire Room Come learn more about this coveted leadership position on campus.     We will review what makes the Resident Assistant “more than just a job”.   Participants will learn exactly what the job is and  how to best prepare  yourself to go through the selection process later this fall semester!
  • 12noon-3pm Student Veterans and Active Military Welcome, 19 Dickinson Hall (Near the Rec Center) Come to the Student Veteran Resource Center to meet the student veteran and active military community at UMass Amherst. Enjoy lunch on us, meet new people, and learn about important resources.
  • 12:30-2:30pm Adventure into Amherst Come meet your downtown neighbors and find out why it's called a perfect place to live. Local business owners are eager to welcome you to your new home. Enjoy music, delicious food, deals at local shops and much more! Meet us in your residential area to walk into town.

  • 3pm & 5pm Kayaking with the Outing Club
  • 4pm & 5:15pm Meditation, Massachusetts Room Mullins Center 3rd Floor
  • 5pm PM 101: Academic Success at UMass Amherst, Mullins Center Green Room Level 1 Not sure what your Peer Mentor is? Worried about getting your academic career off to a good start? If so, come learn about this dynamic student staff position and get study tips from current Peer Mentors as the academic supports they help bring to students! We’ll even cover how you can get involved!
  • 5 & 6pm Be Bold. Be a Leader. Join the Student Government Association, Mullins Center Concourse South Lobby  Getting involved in a group on campus gives you the chance to make a difference and to make the most of your college experience. Come find out if the Student Government Association is the path for you!
  • 6pm Dinner in the DCs
  • 7:30pm Out of State Meet Up, Student Union Cape Cod Lounge Learn about useful resources and local customs while connecting with other out of state students.
  • 9pm-12midnight Mall Madness UMass invades the Hampshire Mall after hours! Catch a bus from your residential area to Hadley for special discounts, student performances and even a late night movie!

Sunday, August 31

  • 9am -5pm WMUA FM Poster Sale, Cape Cod Lounge
  • 9am-5pm New2U Tag Sale, Student Union Ballroom Thousands of refurbished items: clothes, mini-fridges, lamps, futons, rugs, storage units, and school supplies available to purchase for cheaper than buying new!  Delivery service is available for a small charge.  Students can pay a $5 early bird entry fee on Sunday morning for first dibs on all items.  All other times on Sunday and Monday are FREE entry.  Shop sustainably, be green, and save your green!   • 11am- 12:30pm #WeAreUMass, Fine Arts Center, Concert Hall Through the use of social media, videos, music, student performances, and digital narratives, this event will address what it means to be an engaged member of the class of 2018. During this interactive session, students will learn how they can contribute to an inclusive, socially just community.

  • 9pm-2am Sunday Night Live, Campus Center Fun events and places to hang out throughout the Campus Center.

Monday, September 1
