Friday, September 4

  • First-Year Move-in Day
  • 3pm Living, Learning & LOVING life at CHC & UMass, CHC Events Room 160 You will hear advising tips, find out how to track your requirements, and have a chance to ask questions of our advising panel.
  • 5pm Commonwealth Honors College Induction, Fine Arts Center Concert Hall
  • 6:30-7:30pm Dinner at the Dining Commons (DCs)
  • 7-9pm Floor Meetings & First Night Activities (see your RA for details)
  • 9pm-2am Late Night Dining at Berkshire and Worcester Dining Commons

Saturday, September 5

  • 8am-1pm Transfer Move-In Day
  • 10am RAP Pre-Brunch Meet and Greet Students living in RAPs meet with your RA for a short get-together and picture. Then go to brunch!
  • 10am-1pm Brunch at the DCs
  • 12:00-2:00pm Adventure into Amherst Come meet your downtown neighbors and find out why it's called a perfect place to live. Local business owners are eager to welcome you to your new home. Enjoy music, delicious food, deals at local shops and much more! Meet us in your residential area to walk into town.
    • Central- Butterfield Bus Stop
    • CHCRC- Mullins Center Bus Stop
    • Northeast-Arnold Bus Stop
    • Orchard Hill- Dickinson Bus Stop
    • Southwest-Southwest Horseshoe
  • 2-5pm Draw(n) Together, Campus Center Auditorium Bring your friends or make some new ones while you create your masterpiece including coloring, card making, UMass spirit posters, and care packages.
  • 2-6pm UPlay Jamboree, Intramural Fields by the Mullins Center Form teams ahead of time for dodge ball or kickball, or show up and play a variety of games on-site.
    • Participate in an organized kickball or dodge ball tournament. Compete to win t-shirts. Sign up/form teams on IM Leagues.
    • Walk on games of Kan Jam, Spike Ball, and Bean Bag Toss. Sign up on-site.
    • Snacks available while supplies last!
  • 3-4pm and 4:30-5:30pm Meditation, Campus Center Room 917 Relax… Meditate!! Join us for a  student-led, non-denominational meditation group. No experience necessary.
  • 4-8pm Ice Skating, Mullins Center Practice Rink Enjoy free skate rentals and chill with your new friends.
  • 6pm Dinner in the DCs
  • 7:30pm Out of State Meet Up, Student Union Cape Cod Lounge Learn about useful resources and local customs while connecting with other out of state students.
  • 9pm-12midnight Mall Madness UMass invades the Hampshire Mall after hours! Catch a bus from your residential area to Hadley for special discounts and even a late night movie!

Sunday, September 6

  • 9am -5pm WMUA FM Poster Sale, Cape Cod Lounge
  • 9am-5pm New2U Tag Sale, Student Union Ballroom Thousands of refurbished items: clothes, mini-fridges, lamps, futons, rugs, storage units, and school supplies available to purchase for cheaper than buying new!  Delivery service is available for a small charge.  Students can pay a $5 early bird entry fee on Sunday morning for first dibs on all items.  All other times on Sunday and Monday are FREE entry.  Shop sustainably, be green, and save your green!   • 11am- 12:30pm Authoring Your Story:  The UMass Chapter, Fine Arts Center, Concert Hall Through the use of storytelling, we invite all new students to explore what it means to be an engaged member of a diverse and socially just community.  During this interactive session, we encourage students to think about how their individual stories come together to create the UMass story.
  • 12noon-5pm UFest, Goodell Lawn

    • Tours of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library leaving from the library lobby at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm
