Business Leader Keith Parent Joins Pioneer Valley Life Sciences Institute Board of Directors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Keith M. Parent, chief executive officer of Court Square Group, has accepted an invitation to join the Pioneer Valley Life Sciences Institute board of directors. As the non-profit research institute’s first outside director, he will be joining board members from the Baystate Medical Center and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, PVLSI’s founding organizations.
PVLSI executive director Paul Friedmann said, “We are honored and excited to have Mr. Parent join our board of directors. The perspective and ideas he will add as an entrepreneur and an advocate for regional technology-based economic development greatly strengthen our ability to achieve PVLSI’s business and economic development goals.”
“PVLSI is essential to the growth of our western Massachusetts regional life sciences industry cluster,” said Parent. “It also continues to play a strategic role in the critically important Massachusetts focus on maintaining life science leadership in a highly competitive environment. As the Court Square Group’s founder and CEO, Parent has long been recognized as a business leader and as a champion for technology-based economic development for western Massachusetts. Under his leadership, Court Square has been named to the Inc. 500, was three times named to the Inc/Business Week Inner City 100, and was also named the 2002 Small Business of The Year by the Springfield, Mass. Chamber of Commerce. Springfield Technical Community College cited the company with its Hampden County Achievement Award.
Parent was previously nominated as Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year as well as a Champion of Bio-IT. He was a named a finalist for 2007 CEO of the year by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council. The company’s most recent accolades include the Massachusetts Economic Impact Award Bronze Winner-2008 and a Boston Business Journal Pacesetter Award, also in 2008. Parent is chair of the Regional Technology Council and a member of the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts board of directors. He is a founding member of the Clinical Research Consortium of Massachusetts.
