Oct. 23, 2008
AMHERST, Mass. – The Hampshire Regional Emergency Planning Committee and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst will host a regional emergency planning tabletop exercise on Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Amherst Room on the 10th floor of the university’s Campus Center.
The purpose of the tabletop exercise is to test parts of the Hampshire Regional Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Plan as well as parts of the UMass Amherst emergency response plan. The main exercise will focus on the regional impact of a hazardous materials incident occurring at the university’s new central heating plant. Invited participants include Hampshire County fire and police departments, emergency medical services, emergency management, public health and public works representatives as well as hospital administrators, transit officials, higher education personnel and local, state and federal officials.
