UMass Dining Services will hold the 18th annual Taste of UMass, featuring entertainment, prizes and more than 70 food vendors serving simple, healthy comfort food and drinks from around the world keeping with this year’s theme, "Simple Food/Healthy Eating."
Making an appearance at this event will be the New England Patriots Cheerleaders, Boston Red Sox mascot Wally the Green Monster, a stilt walker and a magician. An Ultimate Cupcake War will be hosted by Kevin Brauch of the Food Network’s "Iron Chef America." Later on, Brauch will also host a "Dance Dance Revolution" contest, followed by the final rounds of a student singing competition, "UMass Idol."
"This major special event of UMass Dining has the objective to create excitement, provide a change of venue and an opportunity to build community," says Ken Toong, executive director of auxiliary enterprises at UMass Amherst. "It is also a great way to celebrate the end of the semester."
More than 8,000 people are expected to attend this year’s Taste of UMass and all are welcome. The cost of attending is $15 for the public, $12 cash for UMass faculty and staff, and free for students on a meal plan.
