UMass Amherst Ranked Among Top 50 Public Universities by U.S. News & World Report

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Amherst ranks among the nation’s top 50 public universities, according to the 2011 edition of America’s Best Colleges, released by U.S. News & World Report.

UMass Amherst, the state’s flagship public university, ranks No. 45 nationally, tied with one other school. Among all national universities, private and public, UMass Amherst places among the top 100, tied for No. 99 with three others.

In addition, the university’s College of Engineering ranks No. 52 in best undergraduate programs whose highest degree is a doctorate, with three other institutions.

"UMass Amherst continues to receive praise from many national and international sources for its excellence in teaching, research and community engagement," said UMass Amherst Chancellor Robert Holub. "We provide a first-rate education and extraordinary value to students and their families, and our national ranking by U.S. News is another affirmation of our excellence."
