The Office of Information Technologies (OIT) invites faculty and staff at UMass Amherst to participate in a group purchase of Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 for Windows and Macintosh computers. Participating in this program will give you, or your department, the opportunity to purchase licenses for this software at a significantly reduced cost.

Jazz students from the Department of Music and Dance will present their first concert of this year on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall.

Jazz Ensemble I, under the direction of Jeffrey Holmes, and the Chapel Jazz Ensemble, David Sporny, director, will perform standards, as well as newly-arranged works.

Tickets are $10 general public and $5 for senior citizens, students and children under 18 and are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office (545-2511).

Christine Shoemaker,Joseph P. Ripley Professor of Engineering, school of civil and environmental engineering at Cornell University, will present the 16th Annual Tsuan Hua Feng Distinguished Lecture in Environmental Engineering on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. in the Gunness Engineering Student Center in Marcus Hall.

She will speak on “Water Resource Analysis and Information Technology: the Roles of Optimization and Function Approximation.”

“Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library Building Dedication, 1974-2004,” an exhibit commemorating the Oct. 19, 1974 dedication of the tower, is on display in the 25th floor lobby.

Prepared by Special Collections and Archives, the exhibit includes items from the dedication and samples of contemporary brochures and reports.

The exhibit is open to the public during normal library hours.
