“Yung Mail Tails – Another Reading Room Annex,” an exhibit by Mark Rice, will be on view in the Incubator Project Space of the Hamden Gallery in Southwest from Oct. 20 to Nov. 20, with an opening reception on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 2-4 p.m.
This exhibit consists of an art installation based on the written word, which forces the reader to slow down, concentrate and empathize with the text in order to understand it, giving individuals a chance to interact with the words in a new way.
Rice earned a degree in printmaking from Indiana University in Bloomington and studied intaglio – the printmaking technique in which the ink is placed in the sunken areas of the print, as opposed to the raised surfaces – at Scuola Internazionale Di Grafica in Venice. He is an award-winning artist who has exhibited throughout the U.S. and is the founder of Art Hospital, a gallery in Bloomington, Ind.
The Hampden Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 1–6 p.m., and Sunday, 2–5 p.m.
