Visiting artist Jie Pan will perform a variety of classical, modern and ethnic Chinese songs on Monday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. in Bezanson Recital Hall.
The program will include “Songs Flying above the Earth,” “West Lake of the World,” “Love Forever,” “Drifting Bamboo Raft,” “Jasmine Flower,” “A Glass of Wine,” “Play the Long Drum,” “The Folk Song is just like the Spring River” and “America the Beautiful.”
Pan has been a lecturer in the Academy of Music at Zhejiang University of Media and Communications, Hangzhou, China where she received an M.A. in 2005. She won prizes in provincial and national singing contests, and has received funding from the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education for her music teaching. She has her own vocal training center with about 300 students from all over the country. She is at UMass Amherst to research music pedagogy with professor of music theory Gary Karpinski.
The concert is free and open to the public.
