AMHERST, Mass. - The website of University Health Services (UHS) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst has been named a winner in the 13th annual Web Health Awards competition.
The national contest recognizes the best digital health resources for consumers and professionals.
This is the fourth consecutive win for the UHS website, which focuses on health information of interest to the UMass Amherst campus community. The site, www.umass.edu/uhs, is administered by Karen Dunbar Scully and Jennifer Bedell Brunetti of the communications and marketing/graphic design office at UHS.
A panel of 32 digital health media experts selected the winners from nearly 400 entries, based on accuracy, success in reaching the targeted audience and overall content. UHS joins a list of winners including such prominent healthcare organizations as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Johns Hopkins Medicine Health System.
Organized by the Health Information Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for professionals in consumer health fields, the biannual competition’s goal is to provide a "seal of quality" for electronic health information. Winners receive a certificate and the right to display the award logo on their website.
UHS is UMass Amherst’s fully accredited campus health center, offering comprehensive care, education and referral services for students, faculty and staff. For more information, visit www.umass.edu/uhs, or call 413/577-5000.
