Mary A. Moriarty of Springfield Technical Community College will present a workshop on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
UDL is based on the premise that alternatives to traditional instruction and assessment will serve to enhance learning for individuals from diverse
backgrounds as well as for those with a range of abilities and disabilities.
Topics will include the changing nature and demographics of students in
higher education, the theoretical constructs of UDL, practical and
technological UDL applications. Components for evaluating
curriculum for UDL will also be included.
Moriarty is the National Science Foundation/Department of Education project director and Americans with disabilities Act coordinator
The free workshop is aimed at a higher education and K-12 audience. PDP''s will be available for K-12 teachers.
