Sergeant David White was promoted to lieutenant on May 1 and two officers have assumed sergeant’s duties, according to UMass Police Chief Barbara O’Connor.
White, who joined the department in 1997, has served with the Mounted Unit and assisted with the Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) program. In addition to receiving several awards for service, White was voted the department’s supervisor of the year in 2004. He holds a B.A. from Bridgewater State College.
O’Connor also announced that Jessica Moore has been promoted to sergeant and Michael Malouin has been named acting sergeant, both effective May 22.
Moore has been with UMPD since 2002, serving on its Tactical Arrest and Control (TAC) team and participating in the RAD program. In addition, she was recently assigned as a field training officer with responsibility for overseeing new officers. Moore, a graduate of Westfield State College, previously served as special police officer in West Springfield.
A member of the department since 1999, Malouin has served with the Detective Bureau and TAC team and also assisted with the training of officer and cadet recruits. He has received several awards for his efforts and dedicated service, according to O’Connor.
