UMass Ranked Among Best Values in New England Public Colleges

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine has named the University of Massachusetts Amherst second among public colleges in its list of 35 best college values in New England for 2014.

The March issue of the magazine ranks three public colleges, 18 private universities and 14 liberal arts colleges. Joining UMass among public colleges are the University of Connecticut, first, and the University of Vermont, third.

In ranking public colleges for value, Kiplinger’s uses data on academic quality, such as admission rate, test scores of incoming freshmen, and four- and six-year graduation rates, then adds cost data, including tuition, fees, room and board and financial aid.
