UMass Amherst Homecoming Weekend Brimming with Events

The UMass Amherst campus will mark Homecoming Weekend Oct. 19-21 with something for every alum, student and friend of the university.

Events kick off on Thursday with Spirit on the Concourse, providing giveaways, games and lots of spirit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Campus Center Concourse.

Chef, restaurant owner, author, philanthropist, and UMass alumnus Marc Forgione will be Homecoming speaker, sharing his experiences post-grad and his journey to becoming the youngest winner of “The Next Iron Chef” on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center Auditorium.

The 43rd Multiband Pops Concert will fill the Fine Arts Center with beautiful music on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Hockey and football top Homecoming Weekend sports offerings. On Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 8 p.m., Minuteman Hockey skates against Ohio State at the Mullins Center.

On Saturday at 3:30 p.m., the Minutemen Football team faces Georgia Southern at McGuirk Alumni Stadium, where the Homecoming Court will be crowned.

Also not-to-be-missed: The Homecoming Parade (watch from campus or downtown Amherst), the Revolution Run Homecoming 5K race, a poetry jam, and a variety of social activities, including the 60th anniversary celebration of the University Programming Council.
