AMHERST, Mass.– The University of Massachusetts Amherst Dining Services is hosting the eighth annual UMass 5K Dash and Dine on campus Saturday, April 8. Once again, an early entry fee is offered for those who register prior to the event date.
The run/walk is held annually to raise funds to benefit the Amherst Survival Centerand to promote health and fitness at the university. The race fee is $5 for all Five College undergraduate and graduate students, $10 for all faculty and staff, and $15 for the general public. Race fees will cost an additional $5 for participants who register the day of the event. The race fee includes registration and a complimentary meal at the university’s award-winning dining facilities in Hampshire Dining Commons following the award ceremony. The first 1,000 registrants will receive a T-shirt.
Over the last 7 years, UMass Dining has been able to raise $32,000 for the Amherst Survival Center. The goal this year is to reach $8,000.

“Our partnership with UMass Dining has been deep, meaningful and beneficial to us as a community organization,” said Mindy Domb, executive director of the Amherst Survival Center. “We look forward to the Dash & Dine every year and anticipate another successful event.”
Schedule of events:
- 9 a.m. – Check-in at the Southwest horseshoe
- 10 a.m. – Free fun run for kids under 8
- 11 a.m. – Race begins
- Noon – Prizes for top three runners for gender and age groups
Prizes of $100 American Express gift cards will be awarded to the first-place male and female runners.
