AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass Amherst Alumni Association has announced the launch of an updated online community and career center, appropriately named MaroonCentral. “We surveyed both students and alumni, and this name resonated best within the UMass Amherst family,” said Elena Lamontagne, senior associate director of communications.

MaroonCentral differs from what many other universities offer, because it is available to students and alumni. As well as creating their own profile, UMass Amherst students may complete a personal career assessment, search posted jobs, get career and resume tips, network with alumni in different industries or geographic locations, and do business and industry research. They can even request opportunities to connect with an alumni mentor or sign-up for professional career counseling.

While students will find the resources invaluable in preparation for their life after graduation, alumni may use MaroonCentral to stay in touch with former classmates, post class notes, as well as take advantage of career development or career transition tools.

“Our goal is to enhance the lives of students and add value to their degree, as well as to keep them connected to the university after graduation,” said Anna Symington, executive director. “We know that alumni look to us for professional development resources, and believe that these online tools, along with our year-round programs, will position them for ongoing success.”

Access to MaroonCentral is free to all UMass Amherst alumni and students. Go to UMassAlumni.com for more information, or call 800/456/UMASS.
